The Traditional reports page is where you view, build, and share reports and dashboards in Adaptive. Some reports are shared with your whole company. Others stay private until you share them.
1. Opening traditional reports
If you have the Command center turned on, open Command center, go to Reports, then click the Traditional reports tab. If you do not, click Traditional reports in the left sidebar.
If you do not see Traditional reports, ask your company admin to give your role access.
The page has four tabs:
Tab | What it holds |
Hub | Reports shared with your whole company |
Favorites | Reports you starred |
My documents | Reports you created. Only you can see them until you share them. |
Shared with me | Reports a teammate shared with you |
2. Using Adaptive reports
The Adaptive reports folder in the Hub holds the reports we provide. They cover accounts payable, accounts receivable, bill approvals, budgets, changes, payments, credit card reconciliation, draws, purchase orders, and more.
Filters sit across the top of each report. Some reports have tabs for different views of the same data, such as Aging and Grouped by vendor in Accounts payable.
To see the records behind a number, click the number, then click Drill.
A table opens with each record. Click a record to open its page in Adaptive.
To save a report as a file, click File, then Download....
To customize an Adaptive report, click File, then Duplicate..., and edit your copy. The original stays the same for everyone else.
Reports your team creates and shares are in your company's folder in the Hub.
3. Starring a report
Click the star next to a report's name to add it to your Favorites tab.
4. Sharing a report
Reports you create are saved to My documents. Only you can see them until you share them. There are two ways to share.
To share with your whole company, click the ⋮ menu on the report, then click Move.... Select Hub, choose a folder, and click Move. Everyone in your company can then see the report.
To share with specific people, click the ⋮ menu on the report, then click Share.... Add the people, then click Share. The report shows in their Shared with me tab.
5. Creating a report with the AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is the fastest way to create a report, and the one we recommend.
Open the AI Assistant.
Ask for a traditional report and describe what you want: the numbers, how to group them, and the time period.
The assistant builds the report and replies with a link to it.
To change the report, reply in the same chat. For example: "Add a chart of unpaid bills by job."
Example requests:
"Create a traditional report: a CFO dashboard with outstanding AP by vendor, bill volume by month, bills by status, and budget vs. actual by job."
"Create a traditional report of change orders by job for the past 12 months."
"Create a traditional report of unpaid bills by vendor, aged by due date."
The assistant saves the report to My documents. Ask it to share the report, and it saves it to your company's folder in the Hub instead, where your whole company can see it.
6. Building a report yourself
Click + New to open a workbook. Pick a data set, such as Changes, then the fields you want. Click Chart to turn the results into a chart.
7. Scheduling a report
You can email a report to your team on a schedule.
Open the report and click File, then Deliveries & Alerts.
Under Delivery, select Schedule.
Enter a Delivery name.
On the Email tab, add the recipients.
On the Schedule tab, choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Custom. Then set the days, the time, and the time zone.
Click Save.
To check the email first, click Preview or Test now. Deliveries arrive within 15 minutes of the time you set. They come from "Adaptive Reports" at a no-reply address.
